What is Aussendio?
With Aussendio you send news, offers or project updates to customers who have agreed to receive them. Everything happens in the familiar WordPress admin. Your contact list stays encrypted on your website; the email service only receives the one recipient address per email, never the whole list.
The routine is always the same: write a newsletter or import a finished one, choose a list, check the preview and a test email, get client approval if needed, then send now or set a time. Without a current test email and a separate approval, nothing goes out to customers.
What is it for?
Service businesses and trades share completed projects, repairs or maintenance work with images and concise explanations.
Regular customer updates combine new services, seasonal offers and relevant information for existing business relationships.
Agencies write or import newsletters for multiple clients. Company templates, customer contacts and previews stay assigned to the right client.
How Aussendio works
Write it in the editor or import a newsletter that is already designed.
Pick the right list. Anyone who unsubscribed is left out automatically.
Look at the preview, send a test email and get client approval if needed.
Approve, then send now or set a time. Progress updates as it goes.
Content approval and sending are separate. Client approval does not send an email.
Features
A newsletter is made of sections with a heading, text, photo and link. Colours, logo and a footer with your legal details come from the company template. Save what works as your own template, for project reports or maintenance reminders, for example.
A finished newsletter arrives as a package together with its images. Aussendio checks the layout, images and links. Afterwards you change text, photos and link destinations right in the existing layout.
Sort contacts into lists, such as regular or maintenance customers, and pick the right one for each newsletter. Search single addresses, add them, unsubscribe or delete them. Existing lists are brought over encrypted during setup.
When you work for a client, send them a protected link. They see the newsletter on desktop and phone, approve it or note what should change. The link is valid for 14 days.
Before any customer mailing, a test email goes to exactly one address: same subject, same sender, same content. Only then can sending be approved.
Send now or set a time. Every email goes out individually to exactly one recipient, at most ten per minute. A running mailing can be paused or cancelled at any time.
Aussendio shows which emails the provider accepted, with Brevo also which were delivered, and where something failed. Failed emails can be queued again individually. The sending report is available as a CSV.
Every email has an unsubscribe link, and many mail apps show their own button for it. Anyone who unsubscribes stays blocked for that business, even in later imports. Addresses are encrypted, and the plugin does not measure opens or clicks.
One WordPress installation, several clients. Each business has its own templates, contacts, sender and sending route. Staff only see the businesses assigned to them.
Every change becomes a new version. Earlier newsletters remain available, and ones already sent are never overwritten.
In your own WordPress
Newsletters and lists live on your WordPress hosting. Each business sends either directly through Brevo or through your own mail server via SMTP. Every email goes individually to exactly one recipient, at most ten per minute. Before customer sending, Aussendio checks access, sender and domain.
Addresses are stored encrypted. Anyone who unsubscribes, by link, phone or email, stays blocked. The plugin does not measure opens or clicks. You see what the provider accepted and, with Brevo, delivered.
Before you use it
WordPress 7.0 or later, PHP 8.3 or later, a single installation without multisite, HTTPS and regular background processing via cron. For sending, a Brevo account or your own mail server. Setup creates the key for the encrypted contacts automatically.
You choose the sending route per business: directly through Brevo with your own API access, or through your own mail server via SMTP, connected with the WP Mail SMTP plugin. Every email goes individually to exactly one recipient. The provider only receives that one address per email, never the whole list. Before customer sending, Aussendio checks access, sender and domain. Provider fees and limits apply on top.
Yes. Existing lists with documented permission are brought over as an encrypted package during setup. After that you add single addresses in the admin yourself, search them, unsubscribe or delete them. Inactive addresses in a list are released with one checkbox, and Aussendio records who did it and when. It is not a CRM for quotes or orders.
Not yet. New contacts come in by import or are added one by one in the admin.
Yes. You write newsletters from text, photo and link sections and save them as company templates. The preview updates while you type without saving automatically. In imported newsletters you change text, images and links; unsubscribe and other system links stay protected. Every new issue needs its own list selection and approval.
No. Aussendio does not measure opens or clicks. You see whether the provider accepted an email and, with Brevo, whether it was delivered. Whether the provider tracks anything itself depends on its settings.
Before sending approval, previews and images are access-controlled. Client links expire after 14 days and can be revoked. After approval, email images and the web version must be reachable for recipients through random addresses. Search engines are told not to index them, but anyone can open a forwarded link.
Addresses and permission records are encrypted in your WordPress database. Unsubscribes by link, phone or email block the address permanently for that business. You handle erasure requests in the admin, and a blocking key stops the address from being imported again. You still need to set up the legal basis, privacy policy and the agreement with your provider yourself. The plugin alone does not make you GDPR compliant.
An identical package is recognised and not created twice. Changed content needs a higher version number and gets its own preview and approval. A version that has already been sent is not overwritten.
Aussendio sends at most ten emails per minute, so 600 per hour. 1,000 contacts take about 100 minutes. That suits customer lists of small businesses. For tens of thousands of recipients or automated email sequences, a specialised newsletter service is the better choice.
Project status
Aussendio was built for the customer newsletter of WimCNC and now serves several businesses in one installation: with an editor, client approval, encrypted contact management and sending through Brevo or SMTP. Concept, design, security and development are by Tom the Medienmacher. My business is registered as dormant until the end of October. I will be available again from November.
